Recent Project: Bathroom Renovations + Meet Ollie The Octopus

We recently took on a unique opportunity to make a client’s bathroom remodeling dream come true. One of our customers was on a relaxing vacation in Florida when they found a one-of-a-kind octopus sink that they could not stop looking at. They immediately knew that they had to bring it home with them. Little did they know at the time, but it would become the centerpiece for their bathroom in the near future.

The client began their search for bathroom contractors and found Home One Services. They explained what they wanted to accomplish, and we executed their plan to perfection. Of course, they introduced us to the octopus-themed sink that served as their inspiration for the whole project, which they decided to name Ollie.

Ollie the Octopus was set to be the talking piece of this bathroom remodeling project. The client’s idea was to bring a beach theme to the bathroom, and we were happy to oblige. We were able to come up with a plan to make Ollie fit right in.

Our designer helped guide the client’s decision-making and brought different colors, textures, and styles to the bathroom, giving the entire bathroom a dramatically different look while retaining the heart and soul of what the client wanted. We enjoyed this project from start to finish and wanted to take some time to walk you through the highlights that make this bathroom special.

Of course, we’ll start our tour with the sink area. We paired Ollie the Octopus with a great-looking vanity with room for storage and a modest, single-handle faucet. We added some nautical accents at the sink to match the beach theme. The mirror just above the vanity is elegantly wrapped in rope and fastened to a boat cleat that sits below the light fixture.

To the right of the sink, we mounted an anchor to hang hand towels and add thematic flair. The fixture above the sink has a beautifully polished metal backplate and lights up the entire area.

Moving toward the tub, we added some built-in shelving on the wall above the toilet to showcase a plant and beach accents, along with additional storage as needed. The shower and tub area were also redone with a detachable hand-held shower head and a ceiling-mounted shower head, which required extra plumbing that we were happy to install. We installed two light fixtures on either side of the ceiling-mounted shower head for additional lighting to brighten up the room.

One thing is for sure: the real star in this area is the tile. The gorgeous blue tile has a wavy pattern that flows reminiscent of water. Those tiles were placed vertically to give the impression of a waterfall, which fits well with the ceiling-mounted shower head. The white tile in the center was laid horizontally, which contrasts nicely with the blue tile.

Finally, we installed a magnificent frameless glass door on the shower. This sophisticated metal track bar with rollers adds a refined look to the shower and allows the door to be opened and closed effortlessly. You can see from the picture below that the track has the same look as the rest of the polished metal throughout the bathroom.

We took on this entire project knowing that the client had a specific idea that centered around a distinct piece they found. We’re confident that we delivered on their vision and gave them exactly what they wanted. The before and after pictures of this bathroom make it clear that it went through a transformation that required a complete overhaul.
