What A Winter! Time For Some Home Improvements, Lancaster PA!

This last Father Winter was surely stern, tough, and persistent! But, Spring is here, bringing more warmth and light, a season for renewals and transformations.

Now, each season, just like your life, your home undergoes many changes due to weather conditions, aging process, and regular wear and tear!

Springtime is a great time to take a closer look at your house, inside and out, and see which things need attention after a harsh winter.

We’ve put together a list of the most common areas that people typically want to improve or repair in the spring:

1. Roof

Your roof is your home’s first line of defense against water damage. So many things could have gone wrong during the winter. Inspect your roof for any damage from ice, and make sure there is no leakage – you definitely want to prevent any water damage inside your home.

2. Gutters

Gutters are designed to protect your roof and your house by directing rain away from them. If gutters are clogged, which happens quite often after fall and winter, water damages take place; the challenge is, you may not notice the damage until it’s too late.

So make sure all gutters are open, and take necessary steps to keep them clean and repair or replace them if there are any holes or damages.

3. Doors & Windows

Winter weather can cause cracks and harden caulk, so definitely inspect seals around your windows and doors. You don’t want to feel more drafts next winter, do you?

Repair and replace windows and doors as needed now, and you’ll also reduce your air-conditioning bill, plus prevent damage from heavy rains entering your home.

4. Interior Paint

Paint

A great paint job really beautifies your home; it also makes a protective barrier from the elements. You may be like many of us who are tired of seeing the same colors of the walls – especially after being cooped up inside for so many winter months. So why not brighten your home with fresh coats of some more exciting colors!

Or, repair any cracked or peeling paint – touchup painting is an inexpensive and quick project.

5. Kitchen

Is your kitchen too small, or maybe very outdated and making you feel like you are stuck in the 70ies? Spring is a time for new beginnings and endeavors – maybe it’s time to give your kitchen a new look?

Look around, would you/your family enjoy a more spacious and better organized kitchen and dining area?

6. Deck/Patio

During the long and severe winter months, ice and snow may have taken a toll on your deck and/or patio.

Now would be a great time to perform any repairs or replacements, before the summer heat, and so you can enjoy morning coffees, sunsets, barbeques, and other lovely outdoor activities.
